A timber cat tree earns its floor space three ways: enough height for your cat to sit above human eye level, a base stable enough that it will not rock when a 6kg cat lands on the top platform, and a scratching surface appealing enough to pull them off the sofa arm. Every cat tree here is built from solid rubberwood rather than particle board, so the platforms carry an adult cat without flexing.

Choosing the right height

The range runs from the 176cm exercise wheel and tower combo, which fits an apartment corner, through the 190cm Desert Oasis, up to the 280cm Arch XL for high ceilings or multi-cat households. Measure your ceiling before ordering the XL - it needs close to three metres of clearance to sit properly.

Why timber rather than carpet and chipboard

Solid timber holds a screw where particle board strips out, which is the single reason cheap cat trees develop a lean and never recover. It also survives being climbed daily for years, and it looks like furniture rather than something you hide in the spare room. Base stability and step spacing

Tall cat trees tip over when the base is too light for the height. Ours use weighted timber bases with a wide footprint, and step spacing between 15cm and 30cm so kittens, senior cats and short-legged breeds can climb rather than jump.

Sisal, not carpet offcuts

Scratching posts are wrapped in natural sisal rope, which holds up to daily use and gives the shredding texture cats actually look for. Where a carpet panel is used instead, it is replaceable rather than glued in place.
