our story
Pawzen started the way most small businesses do — with a problem we couldn't solve by shopping.
We have cats. Between us we have lived with the full range of cat furniture sold in Australia, and most of it disappointed us in the same two ways. Either it was a carpet-wrapped tower that shed fluff, held smells and looked wrong in a living room, or it was genuinely beautiful timber furniture priced as though it were a designer sofa.
What we wanted seemed simple. Solid timber. Real sisal. Joinery that holds up to a cat launching itself off the top platform. Something we would not want to hide when guests came over. In Australia, that combination was either unavailable or expensive enough to think twice about.
so we went and found it
Rather than settle, we went looking directly — talking to the workshops that actually build this furniture, comparing timber and construction, and asking for the specifications we wanted rather than picking from a catalogue. We chose pieces we would put in our own homes: a cactus-shaped climbing frame that reads as sculpture, a cat exercise wheel paired with a full tower, beds with sisal scratcher backrests that solve two problems in one footprint.
Some of them are unusual. That is deliberate. A cat tree occupies a corner of your living room for years, and we think it should be something you actually like looking at.
why we hold stock here
The easy version of this business is drop-shipping: take the order, forward it overseas, and let the customer wait five or six weeks with no idea where their furniture is.
We do it the harder way. We import in bulk, clear customs and biosecurity ourselves — solid timber entering Australia is subject to strict quarantine requirements, and meeting them properly is neither quick nor cheap — and hold everything in an Australian warehouse. When you order, it ships from local stock with a local courier and local tracking.
It costs us more. It means you are buying from an Australian business, with your full rights under the Australian Consumer Law, rather than from a listing on the other side of the world.
where we are now
We are new, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Pawzen Mart is a small Australian company with a deliberately short product range — pieces we chose ourselves, stocked here, sold honestly.
If something is not right, tell us. We would rather fix it than sell you the next thing.
